Two years ago my wife and mom-in-law drove from Tillamook, OR (directly west of Portland at the beach) to Fresno, and back, three times in less than four weeks!  Her uncle (4thwknd's in-law) was very sick and the final trip was his service!  I'll give my wife the Iron Butt Award for that!  :moon:    The last trip was with our two little boys!  It would have cost alot for plane tickets due to a really short notice!
Miss ya Dean (4THEWKN) & Kyle (KYOTA)!!

4THEWKN~9/17/2006  If it wasn't for you, I'd be driving something other than a Toyota!

The gas money was still cheaper than 3 plane tickets.

When I first got my new Tundra I was averaging 1,000 miles a week for the first 13 weeks.  I drove from Silverdale, WA (about the same as Seattle) to Loma Linda and pulled a Uhaul trailer back without stopping for the night...something like 22 hours on the road.  My wife drove for about 2 hours in the early morning when I couldn't stay awake anymore.  Once the sun came up I was off and rolling once again.  That trip was about a month prior to my wedding and then I drove from Washington to Ohio by myself for my wedding and then pulled a trailer back, via Colorado, after the honeymoon.

In the past I have made it from Bremerton to Loma Linda, CA in 17.5 hours driving time in my Camaro before I sold it, I stopped three times (hotel/gas, gas & gas), the key is to find food to go at the gas stations and keep going.

If you're going to drive that far, go to MOAB!  :driving:

I once had to drive from Bremmerton WA to San Diego. Drove straight thru. Took about 24 hours in my 72 landcruiser. Man that was a long assed drive. sometimes road trips are a blast, othertimes they suck.

I had a friend in college that drove from TN to Walla Walla, WA straight through, it took him 37 hours in his Supra.  He tried to sleep along side the road in WY but his car was so loaded that he couldn't even lean the seat back so he just kept going.  He did it another time pulling a trailer with his motorcycle behind the Supra and it was like 39 hours.

Another friend did the trip from Alabama to WA in about the same time.

I like to drive long distances, its not the destination but its the journey that makes it fun.  Ive driven to phoenix 3 or 4 times straight through, 24 hours.  Colorado springs is 18 hours, LA was 14 or somthing to that effect.  I havent take a long road trip in a long time Im waaaay overdue. :(

but if you wanna talk about mileage, my dad has put 300k on his cummins in less that 3 years.

I hit the road at 830 am on a Sat leaving Whichita Falls Tx on my way home. I had been away from home for about 6 months and was ready to be back. I stopped in Flaggstaff Az for the night and hit the road again. Made it home at 730pm on Sunday. Something like 1600 miles. Id have made better time if it wernt for the fawking blizzard through half Arizona. It was a long ride but I enjoyed it. Road trips are fun!

That is the Magellan GPS Software, to get the screen shot just hit PRINT SCREEN on your keyboard and paste it in the photo program of your choice, in this case I used Microsoft Photo Editor, just cause it's low quality.

Highway 5 in California sucks, as soon as you are out of California it's beautiful with glass smooth roads. It's like night and day.

$256 for 3 people to fly, $120 for gas for 3 people in the Jetta.

Driving is still cheaper.

earlier in the summer I was given a cherry 87 subaru but the catch was that it was in victoria b.c. but I was down for a vacation anyways so I flew up there got it and drove it back.  I took 6 days to come back because I wanted to fish alot and enjoy the drive.  Yah 5 in california sucks but after that it is nice.  the best part is that it only took me ten hours to sell the car when I got home and I had $1000 dollars profit off of the trip.  Hello sas
