What do you think of these wheels?

We are looking for opinions on a wheel design. This will be a heavy cast aluminum beadlocked wheel. Both 15" and 17" sizes, 9" wide, 3 1/2" backspacing. This is not a weld on ring, it's cast as a beadlocked wheel from the start. Steel thread inserts will prevent thread problems. 24 Grade 8 bolts will hold the outer ring on. Bolt pattern 6 on 5.5. Target price $225 per wheel.

At this point we would like to hear your feedback on both design and style.

What, no spinners?

It is differant, but I like the standard round hole design myself. Maybe with a stainless steel lock ring and no spinners.

I'm a fan of the old steel wheel.
The ring painted a different color than the wheel would be good.
Also if 2" backspacing was available I think you would sell more. Everyone on PBB is fighting to find those and settling for 2.5" BS from 4WP.
As for the design of the ring, I think it should come in towards the center of the wheel more, maybe an inch.
Your target price for each wheel is also what I got all 5 of my wheels for.

I like them, and I would buy some......all it takes is money. :twocents:
You have a Jeep?  That's cute.... So does Barbi.

Here is a wide ring with matching diamond pattern...

Will the ring bolts be flush with the ring?

Marketing

I expect the bolt heads will be slightly higher than the ring. The outer ring would have to be very thick to completly cover the bolt heads.

i personaly like the ones your selling now i just wish i could afford them

I know you can buy whole set of steel wheels for the price of one, but those wheels really don't last. I have run them and bent them after just a few trail rides. You just can't beat $40 per wheel for price!

Both ring options would be the same cost.

A set of four would be $100 less than what we are charging now and they would be a stronger wheel.

Skinny_Pedal

with the diamonds in the bead those have a good look. they're unique. but i agree with minisimp with that a different bs would be killer
Im an OG

We have not set anything in stone, so a different BS is possable. We woudl need to choose one backspace for the production units.

I'd like to hear from more people on what backspace they would like to see.

Thinking about "Marlin Crawler" or the turtle head engraved into the wheel.

mudguts

That would be cool. Those wheels look good but they may look better with a rolling around in there

WHITE_TRASH

Nice wheel but they remind me of Walker Evans wheels.  I hate those damned wheels they are THE most common generic looking wheel on the scene today....

Whatever you do make it different.  Going to a comp all you see are W.E. or treailready.  Marlins has found a niche in selling different products that are both unique and functional.  Keep with the trend and make a wheel unlike anything else out there.

I like the wheel with the big ring and diamonds in it. Maybe the  :turtle: emblum on 2 sides directly across from each other. And also a less backspaced rim IMO.

Chris-

I finally convinced my fiancee that I NEED beadlocks if I'm gonna continue to wheel my truck.  I'm in the market here pretty soon (as soon as I scramble the money together...) and would much rather buy from Marlin than anywhere else.  That said, here's what I'm after:

2-2.5" backspacing is a MUST.  Current production alloys only come in 4.5" or more backspacing...not gonna cut it on Toy axles.  I've got 4.5"BS steelies on my truck now just to be able to run my 37 12.50 17 wrangler MTR's and the tires rub everything and the truck is tippy as hell.

I don't want them too flashy...think unique but understated.  Maybe a variation on the old MT classic...

They gotta come in a 17" size so I don't have to buy another set of tires...

Any idea on how soon we might be able to get our hands on these wheels?  I suspect I'll have  the money in the next 30-45 days, if things stay busy at work...  I'll be willing to put down some money up front to get production going if needed.  My choices now are MRT or Allied, and only in steel if I want the 2 or 2.5" BS.  Throw me a bone!

We are looking at about 4 months from the time we pull the trigger.

We are seriously thinking about the BS issues now.

Chris-

Let me know...I'd be willing to wait if you wanted someone as a "test dummy" to check out the wheels...
