New 05 yotas
« on: Jul 03, 2005, 09:37:41 AM »
What U guys think of them?

I have been looking up info on zee web & went down to my local dealer sat with a Friend   and look around.   I found them to be very $$$   I also did not like the inside  and thot the dash was  :reg:

SO we went to the chevy dealer  " he wanted to look at trucks"
So we look around  and there was a   97 taco 4x4 5speed  6cly 3400  in good condition
for $8000   don't remember the miles    I was all  :yumyum:    but  it was "AS IS"   and i did not have the money  Or i would ov got it :yesnod:

Next thing i know  I'M siting in a chevy 05 silverado  with a      It was on sale for 17,8$$    normally 22,$$$    IT had a V6, 4x4,  stander cab,  8'bed.  Red   5speed  same pattern as zee Yoda.
So i :driving:  it  . It felt  sooooooo good   every thing was the right hight/angle to dangle.

I put down $200  to just hold it    and had to go ask for $2000 for a down payment     but after thinking it over   340$ a month for 5 yrs   is a long long time :hammer:   so Monday I'm gonna get my  $200  back

Almost went to the dark side,  But it was a very very nice truck.

only thing i don't like about the 05s is the grille...starting to look like a nissan or something, idon't know?  but odd looking on a Taco.  Not traditional Yota styling.  Maybe its cause they're partnered up with GM?

I like the 05 Tundra, but the 05 Tacoma's are too big, in my opinion, for the same type of wheeling that the older ones were good for.  I liked the smaller Tundra and the Tacoma, I'm not a fan of the upsize of the trucks.

I like the 4x4's...but I agree the Tacomas have gotten a little bigger than I really like...

i like the smaller tacomas, too much influence from people in places like midland tx that think BIGGER IS BETTER. y make it bigger if its already a great truck, nimble, comfortable, and excellent on gas?

I have a 93,     and the  97 taco  i was in seemed smaller, but i also have seen  big tacos.
Was there a year or 2  that they made them  super compacted?

I also  :(    trucks that drive like cars  :gay:   I know the f-150s rides like that   and if the new Yoda's ride like a car  then thats just  :toilet:

They're ok. Test drove one last fall with one of my techs. Zippy little thing. 4 inches wider inside cab over previous models. Grille ...oh well could be worse. No negative reports from the shop on them so far. Not a big fan of short bed crew cabs, look un-balanced, like the suicide doors on x cab tho.
Take a deep seat and hang on!

Pretty firm, actually. Haven't driven a car since '88. Anyway crisp on the corners and fairly level. Comfortable overall, but you know you're in a truck. I liked it. :twocents:

my brother lives on a long pothole filled gravel road that actually has steep sections requiring 4wd when its raining.  his taco(05) is way smoother than mine(02) on this type of road or anything less off road.  his truck is way bigger than mine, the 4.0 v6 kicks ass, but id still prefer my little taco and smaller monthly payment

Has anyone done any towing with the new taco, or know its rating?
