Marlins New Birfs....looking for info
« on: Jun 21, 2005, 04:55:52 PM »
Hey guys,

It's been awhile since I have been on the boards, but I noticed today that Marlin came out with some new heavy duty birfs.  I was getting close to purchasing bobby long's super 30 spline set, but I would always rather buy Marlin's stuff before anyone else's if I can. Does anyone know how they compare to Bobby's?  Maybe  Chris or BigMIke have some info they could put out there to get me to buy them.... ???

I now run 35's with lockrites, 5.29's and 4.70's in a single case.  I have been breaking birfs every couple trips or so...last time I thought i broke, but i sheard all of my hub bolts off instead.   I am planning on jumping to 37's or 39.5's with the new ineers and birfs I buy.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys.javascript:void(0);

I heard that nobody has yet to break them.  Appearntly they are comparative to Bobby's.  Of course they are only 27 spline.  :)

marlins new birfs are made by cvunlimited.
if you run the 27 splines they are both comparable in strength.

Im running 27 spline longs and polyperformance inners that I bought from Marlin.  I think its the best of both worlds since the inner can flex and twist all it likes due to the small diameter.

And Yes just like Mr4x4 said, I always buy from Marlin but for birfs I go to bobby.  He's pretty local to me and he's a helluva nice guy.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

untill it goes SNAPand takes a locker and birf with it..i don't think the cromo stuff in any size has much of a problem with twist..seems anything cromo has a good amount of twist to it..Guess thats why its made of cromo..
But even the 27 spline cromo stuff is strong as hell..

the 27 spline birfs broke the 300m inners at the demo in the hammers.
i would not hesitate to run the 27 spline set up if i hadnt stepped up to the 30 spline set.
both the 27 and 30 spline birfs are stronger than the inner axles.

How easily you forget Mr4x4 Im funning a V6 lockright in my hp diff.  Its not going to snap like a detroit does when an inner breaks.  Even if it does Id only be out $25 for a spring and pin set instead of having a $500 detroit paperweight. :)

I fixed my detroit,,,cost  ZERO dollars,,,but yea,,I see what your saying..Had I not been able to get parts for free it would havebeen bad..I still think the detroit is a better locker then the lockright,,its just a watse when its broken,,and almost jusk after that..
