Look Ma! No Birfs!
« on: Feb 04, 2007, 05:39:27 PM »
Recently bought an 85 4runner and noticed the front hub(drivers side) was spewing fluid. when I pulled apart the hub there was no axle! so I pulled the other side and..... look ma no birfields or axles at all! so here we go.... why would a previous owner pull out the front axles/birfs and drive around without them? Im seriously considering dropping the whole front assembly and going through it. I hope to here some random responses or similar stories before I go deeper.

did the test on a dirt road the light came on and my buddy said he saw the front wheels spittin dirt. which leads me to think they may have been removed in between the time i tested and the the actual purchase.

Some guy's weld the gears, so...I guess you better weld the hubs together.  :haha:
