Tires for my 91 SR5 pickup. Help
« on: Mar 31, 2024, 04:01:21 PM »
I barely drive anymore, just around town once or twice a week, city streets and freeway. My tires are OLD and though they have great tread the sidewalls are badly cracked, seems like a safety issue. I've got Cooper P225/70r14 M+S tread:440, trac:A, temp:B.
My criteria is 1.quiet, 2.soft comfy ride, 3.better quality. I'm not about cheap, but want value for my $$. Local shops want to sell me Hankook H735 for $638 out the door, but I never heard of these tires and find mixed reviews.
I'm in northern California, never in snow, sometimes in rain, and annual trips of 200+ miles.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

the hankook h735 look to be a good tire for a commuting. looking at the tread pattern it will do well in wet weather. it is not aggressive but will get you down graded dirt roads fine.

looking at discount tire's selection of tires in P225/70r14 there is only 6 choices.

You might find some more options by using this tire conversion calculator https://tiresize.com/calculator/ to see what the other ??/??/R14 combo's are the basically the same size as the 225/70r14's you are running now.  Based on the comparisons between what is available at America's Tire I would go with the Hancooks.

With stock 2wd size being 195/75, and you are running
225/75's, you also have 205 and 215 sizes as options as well.

Hankook makes a very good tire.

The price is good and the tire is good for your application.

Hankook H735   It should be quiet and soft.

Tire shops don't want to sell you tires you won't like.
