FJ Cruiser Brake Kit Question
« on: Mar 02, 2023, 01:07:12 PM »
Hi All!

I have an FJ with the StopTech Big Brake kit and wanted to know if this will work with my coming RCLT install? I hear there is a thread somewhere here that gives a bit of info on it, but I cannot find it. :)  Anyone point me or provide a link?

Any help of personal exp would be great.

I would also welcome BBK rec that actually work seamlessly with the RCLT on an FJ. Anyone? :)

Thanks!

Mike

I've just recently had the RCLT kit installed on my 2013 Tacoma and I have the stoptech big brake kit.
Ran into a few issues and I'm still testing and flexing to see if its going to work.
There is a thread about RCLT and BBK in the RCLT area.
It's called Big Brake Kit

Biggest issue is with the banjo bolt on the back of the caliper and the lca.
I did find a banjo bolt with a lower profile.
Had to notch the lca.

Thanks for the insight here. I will check out this thread for sure. Do you know of another BBK that does not give ANY issues by chance? Would rather not go back to OEM brakes but need the BBK with all the weight I have up front, etc.

:)

thanks again bro

Thanks man, problem is I cannot get access to the thread for some reason(Tho I am new). When I try to do so, it tells me that 'it is missing or that I do not have permission to access it(off limits to me)'. Its so odd. So, I will keep trying to get to access it somehow? Big Mike...what am I doing wrong? :)

thx

Mike

I am in the same boat as MotioncontrolMike. Can't access the link to the Big Brake Thread. Ran into issues with a PowerBrake setup. Looks like Ceika is an option but wanted to see if anyone had exact specs of the Ceika kit options that will for sure work. There are a ton of custom options with those.

Do you also have RCLT?

I noticed Wilwood also has a kit for FJ Cruisers, and wondered if that kit/option cleared with no problems with RCLT? I have ordered my RCLT and haven't installed yet, just getting prepared. :)

37x12.50. We were trying to do a PowerBrake Kit but the caliper brackets were hard into the relocated wheel speed sensor.

Thx...tires give a nice stance.

I wonder if the Wilwood would have better caliper clearance. Their calipers BTW are supposed to be narrower than normal ones on some of their kits. I currently have the Stoptech that I can see I need to abandon.
