Aloha guys, been following your guys thread for awhile, helped me fix couple things just by reading what other people gotta say. I gotta 87 Toyota pickup 22re I've been building from stock, I had 5.29 gearing put in front and back, I had 31/12.5/15 boggers but I read it needed more tire, so I just put 33/12.5/17 Bf Km3's and I feel like it might need more..? Especially when 4x4 is engaged. I was looking for some info if anyone else has dealt with this. I thought 35's might be too big but I'm thinking of heading in that direction, any info would help, mahalo guys🤙🏽🤙🏽

Imo 35s are almost too small for 529s too.  Gearing/tire combo breaks down to personal preference.

I ran 33s with 5.29s for a long time. The truck drives better now with 5.29s an 35s.

Based on the stock gearing of 4.10', if a manual trans, and 225's, the closest tire size for 5.29's gears, is 36", which would make the gears about 1% over geared, with a 37" about 1% under geared.  With 35's you would be about 3.3% over geared, which with as little power as the 22r(e) has, wont be an issue, and is why most run them with 35's, as 4.56's or 4.88's, would be 10.1% and 6.5% under geared.

also keep in mind pinion size/strength. 5.29 is smaller than 4.88. If I remember right 5.29 has 7 teeth vs 8 with 4.88
