you da man :~~: so how hard was it?? and what did the axles cost ya? :dunno:and could you make one for a pickup cheaper than front ranges $700, for adapter and axles and i still have to find all the parts,spindle,hub,bearing,locking hub

So after 4 months wheeling season is upon us and I decided to just put the old stuff back in. I went with 2.28 gears for now.

Bringing the zilla back to life here. I just spent the last couple days going over Cruzila.
Last August I hauled a Kubota into Rubicon Springs and had an axle break.

I could not get the inner shaft out on the trail and I have not moved the rig since it came back home. Today I'll take the axle apart and replace the birfs with 30 spline Longs

I also redid my main batteries with a marine switch and new 2/0 wires.

Rolling around under the rig last night I spotted a problem.

I had purchased some seats from Roundeyes for another project,  but I think they need to go into cruzila.

Well after dismantling the front end I can say routine maintenance is a good thing.

One birfield trail fix rubbed the end of the birf. The martack was sheared when it broke.   

The other was close to failure. the star had major chips off the edges. 

Two upper knuckle bearings failed one was worn bad and the other died of water poisoning.

One outer wheel bearing has wear, daylight will tell if I can keep it.

I have not even pulled the third yet, the ARB was having leak issues for about a year.

I'll take a few shots tommorrow.

Bringing an old thread back to life.................aaahhhhh


Well, here I am again repairing damage caused by excessive wheeling. 

I have ripped the bumper off and inspecting crack.

Going in for the Roundup this year, I was feeling something in the steering wheel when I heard a popping noise. I looked at the frame near Little Sluice and decided to go with it as the frame was cracked and just hitting the steering shaft. I ran it all the way in and out and home with no issues. I am glad to have not had to fix it out in the field.

I have decided to make a new bumper and plate the outside of the frame to strengthen the front 2 feet of the vehicle. I found out it was much worse than I thought.

Bad focus, but you can see the part that was hitting the steering shaft.

i have a few more repairs going at the same time. I hit the dial face on a lockout hub so I need to replace that. I found a crack in my skid plate t-case mount. So I fixed that. Looking at some of my original welds, I see I sucked at welding stick so I will fix those too.

New bumper. I have an 8274 winch so I need to remake the mount. I got some 2x5 and made a couple cuts and welded the m together. Then welding all that in the opening for the fairlead. I made some round spacers so the winch mount will be backed up too.

I need to take some more pics tonight.
