I have an 81 Trekker in pretty good shape. Here's my story, in brief. 1997 I bought a trekker off a lot in Bethany OK, when I was in college. Drove it till about 2003. Moved to ID. I sold it. Regretted that sale. 13 years later, I received notice that had abandoned this little blue truck! The guy I sold it too never registered it! He abandoned it, the cops impounded it and I was the last registered owner. I pick it up from impound and will be rebuilding it soon.

So, 35s, 5.29 gears, Marlin Crawler trans and t-case... How low can I keep it and still fit 35s on it? Shackle lift, 1.5 in.? Bump stops to keep the wheels from tearing up my body? Little to no cutting is what I'd like.

And... how can I add a pic?

Really cool story! I'll be watching this build. I have a 1st gen 4Runner and have the OME spring which ride very nice on and off the trail and give about 2.5 inches of lift. I also have 6inch shackles. That combo just barely clears 35's but it will contact the back of the fender under full compression when the wheels are turned. If I moved the front axle forward that wouldn't be a problem any more. Thanks - might be a while before I make it to 11 posts...
Seems to me the 2nd gen wheel wells are bit smaller, more square in shape - are they as accommodating as 1st gen?

So, you've got 2.5 lift plus 6in shackles? 8 inches to barely clear a 35? Is that right?

Your right that the 1st gen wheel wells are larger. The shackles are 6" total length which is I believe 2" longer than stock. Because the shackle is at the end of the spring rather than right at the axle that 2" of extra length only nets about an inch of actual lift. So my total lift is probably 3-1/2".
