Quick dumb question about Rear diff
« on: Nov 30, 2016, 02:57:24 PM »
I know all pre 95 pickups come with a 4cyl 8" front and rear diff in the 4WD models, is it the same for the 2Wd? tryin to see if I could use a third member out of a 94 pickup that was 2wd so I can gear it and what-not without having to take the one in my 84 out. I just wanna double check because I've done research on projects before and have been wrong, so it helps  actually hearing from people

Your best bet is to look at the manufacturing plate on the truck that the third came out of then figuring out the size of the pinion and what not. The 2wd was optioned with a 7.5" diff as well as a 8.0" diff. If you do get one that's an 8". Marlin has a really good decoder chart on his website. I'm not sure about the compatibility between the with the 4wd but knowing Toyota I don't see why they wouldn't be.

Pretty sure the 2WD is going to have 27 spline axles and side gears even if it's 8".  You can change the side gears though.

Don't get ones from an automatic if you ever plan on changing the ring and pinion
Dr.Maxwe001 – well i have a 15 gal compressor now and if I gett he 60  and then use the 15 as a reserve that wil give me 75 gal  thats close to 80 isnt it ?
