L52hd new owner
« on: Sep 19, 2016, 06:36:58 PM »
Greetings, I just picked myself up a new (to me) L52hd from a buddy choosing to 3rz swap his pickup. He told me the trans occasionally slipped out of first and 3rd when coasting. Just to be safe I went ahead and cracked the top cover to look at the gears and synchros, and they look brand new!  so I'm stoked on that. My buddy also told me when wheeling at hammers 2015 he actually chatted with Marlin regarding the issue and the big man himself said that tea early hds didn't quite have a strong enough spring in the top cover. I went to yank that out and boom! It's in 3 pieces. What have you guys done to fix the issue? Anyone know if Marlin sells an updated spring for these?

Also, I read on an older thread that Marlin made short shifters for the L52. Anyone know if that's true/ or know where one may be kicking around?

Thanks chaps!

I'm really pretty bummed about the way things have gone. I called up Marlin this morning to inquire about ordering a replacement shift spring. Customer service told me they wouldn't sell hard parts (even an inexpensive spring which, to my buddy, Marlin himself suggested was the problem circa Hammers 2015.) I'm not trying to cash in any warranty on a secondhand trans and I'm not insisting they do anything for free. I just need this one spring that only appears to take about 5 minutes to change. Do I try Marlin again, any ideas? I'm pretty disappointed at the moment.
