Who makes the best Head Gasket.

I going to need a head gasket so who makes the best one?  I have an 87 turbo truck.  It was a Fel Pro on there, is there something better?

I like Fel Pro for my turbo apps, otherwise I use stock oem parts.

Does the 22R, 22RE, and the 22RTE share the same head gasket they only list one individual set.  The Fel Pro website only lists a head set for my specific truck.  I could use a new valve cover gasket but not necesarry.  But I really just want a head gasket.

I'm running a Fel Pro performance marine head gaskets in my Chevelle motor.  If they had those for the Yota I'd get those.

The fel-pro is the one we use. I believe the one to get starts with hp. I used to know the #. I only buy just the gasket I run 12lbs boost right now

Anyone heard of Corteco.  Been told by a well known Toyota Turbo guy that's the head gasket to use.

Victor, baby!!  My 79 blew 3 fel-poo gaskets; i threw on a Victor Reinz and its still holding up..(even after i rolled it and sold it as a farm irrigation rig)...My current 84 has Victor all around(Freshly built, baby, yeaaahaahh).

felpro hasnt worked for me with toyotas. I have changed out two fel pros now in as many years. On a stock motor I put in toyota OEM gaskets. If its a performance engine LC makes a good (& expensive) head gasket.

my buddy was changing fel pro gaskets every 6 months.
he went toyota factory gasket after the third one last time and is still running it 2 years later.

this may be slightly off topic but...  an old engine builder told me to spray both sides of my head gasket (I used OEM) with silver spray paint, or any silver paint as long as it has a very high percentage of aluminum in it and that it would seal better and discourage electrolosis. 67,000 miles later it's all good. Can't say for sure if the paint did anything but it certainly doesn't seem to hurt.

I thot I read somewere U need to run a copper  or metal reneforces Head-G for High boots engines   I could be wrong.

I had my head gasket replaced twice on my nissan and they were fel pro blue label/stripe.  And one new head.  I ended up actually ruining the block on the last gasket failure.  Ended up putting in an japanese take out motor.  If I need to ever replace a head gasket next time I will try a oem!!

Who makes the high dollar LC head gasket?  I doubt its LC, but I could be wrong.

Looks like they sell Toyota gaskets, $25-$35.  They call them OEM and at those prices sounds a lot cheaper than from a dealer.

I just checked out the Victor gasket site.  I think that's the way I want to go.  But I couldn't tell if they have oversize gaskets.  Will a stock size gasket work with 1mm overbore?

Also where can I buy these?

Victor is sold by Napa.  Its their home brand.  they also sell felpro.  It basically depends on what gasket you want.  They usually carry a mixture of brands.

Just bought a toyota one    looks better than the felpro one I allready had  Called LC Their expensive one has to have the head and block surfaced/ polished to use it .

All I gotta say is Go check out a toyota oem gasket and then another brand like Fel-pro. You can see and tell whats gonna hold and last.

you should surface the head any time you pull it off...

only surface it if it needs it.  scotchbrite pads wont really scratch the aluminum and get rid of gunk pretty well also

Well enough people like myself are in this situation because somewhere along the line a Toyota Head Gaskey failed.

Even if using a Fel-Pro was a bad idea on my part, I needed to do it because a Toyota Gasket turned my motor into a milk shake machine.

That being said I orded a Victor from NAPA today.  Only time will tell if it was the right choice.
