Totally Awesome work. I'd be afraid to move the thing out of my garage with that level of time and effort into it, it's a Beauty, keep it up.

When you get it finished, give me a call and plan on me showing up to take it home and build it's own shed so I can share at it every day.

No doubt the nicest resto/mod build I've seen in a long time.

One question. Why set the cab back on the frame before painting the exterior? ???

Good question because when I look at the pictures, I need to remind myself why also..  When i had the bodywork done on the cab, i wanted to get it "jammed" so that I could build the interior and the engine bay and then when it comes time to paint the body, we just tape those off and paint the outside.  The reason the body is just sitting on the chassis is so i can line up the shock hoops and then weld them in.  if you weld the hoops on the frame without the body, you run the risk of poor alignment and then eventually having to hammer in the inner fenders to make clearance for the hoops to not hit.

so the bodywork is still not done on the cab but i needed to make sure the hoops were welded in the right place.

Lots more pictures to follow.

Certainly one of the hardest to find tailgates. That bed is amazing. I need you to do the body work and paint on one of mine.

There's nothing like a factory light.

Only OEM has the gasket at the top.

I would like to make something clear. This is not my truck, It's Joe's. I'm just doing the body and paint.

Here's my truck. I'm sure many have seen it on the Rubicon.

Joe has been collecting parts over the last few years while the build has been progressing. This will truly be a full nut and bolt restoration. There will be many NOS parts and every piece will be restored before it goes back on. It will be as close to a "new" '82 as you can get with the exception of suspension and dual cases to get it through the Rubicon.

New Toyota cab to frame hardware.

Curious on those knuckle gussets with integrated shock mount. Did you make those? Or did you purchase them somewhere?

Thank you RedNeck,  that is correct.  Those are gussets that I got from Marlin.  They do require a little massaging and persuasion to get them to fit just right.
