We tried a couple different things, mostly the red and gold can Jasco from your local hardware store.  We also used a spray can of stuff, I don't remember the name but I'll ask Greg if he can chime in about it. 

The other parts are just plain old #30 sand in a Harbor Freight sand blaster to remove the surface rust and some of the tough spots that didn't quite come clean from the chemicals.

Same Jasco, just in an aerosol.


After stripping, all panels are sanded with a D/A with 120.


All bodywork is done in 120.
Prime.
Block with 220.
Prime.

That's where we're at as of now on most parts.

are you using aftermarket body panels? Have any troubles getting the gaps to line up? I am mixing new and old and the new stuff just doesnt seem to gap out as well as the OE stuff. I get the need for new aftermarket though. Finding rust/dent free OE panels are getting harder to come by.

Yellow chromate bolts are the finishing touch that sets off any Toyota restoration. I have purchased the chemicals to build a setup to do it but haven't tried yet.

Really great job you guys have done there. Love the paint on the bed there. Not sure mine will look that good but i'm going to give it hell. I have A LOT of rust to contend with, the poor floorboards have completely rotted away

I am using aftermarket front fenders, they are a pain in the ass.  just have to stay calm and not get frustrated....  Greg has instilled a ton of patience that i never had before.

otherwise i would have crushed the in the cardboard compactor by now.

I agree that they just finish off the project. 
I looked into my own dip tank, DIY Zinc, but i decided to send my stuff out to a local plating shop.

Time to sho nuff put in the hours now. What an honor to be presenting sema with an almost 40 year old Toyota 4wd pickup. Amazing. Simply amazing. You guys attention to detail and just how far you have went with perfecting every last thing on this project is the reason why. Congratulations man. I am over joyed for yall.

Thanks guys.  Things are not moving as fast as I want due to family stuff being in the way. 

That said in the next couple weeks there will be a lot more progress happening. 

The show is coming up quick.
