Personally I feel it all depends on your goal with the rig. What power plant will you use? What tire size? What terrain will you be running?

60 front 70 rear, maybe a 50 front since you planning on 39.5 as your tallest tire, a super duty dana 60 front is already high pinion
when in doubt throttle out

Buddy runs 40s all day on toy axles. He's broke case inputs. Steering boxes. Bent 2 inch Dom links. And never ever broke a long field. He also is 22r so his truck would barely move if he had tons.

To me tons kill the fun. And they are so heavy they make rigs handle alot different. I'd drive a rig on tons before you go to them. Toy axles take a helluva beating. The housing is the weak link. You axles let you fit so many places, and you don't have to replace your leafs every 6 months.

Tons are super strong and super stable though. Albeit a stock 60 shaft is the same strength as a long field. So unless you went aftermarket shafts your not getting an upgrade there. Everything else is bigger tho.

So why are you DD this truck? If it's built that much you'll be paying for tires all the time. Which isn't cheap in those sizes. What type of rocks will you be trying to go over? To me a 3.4 supercharged with duals you'll be breaking a lot of things for something it seems like you want to drive everyday.
