22r carb 20r head couple questions
« on: Jun 25, 2012, 11:36:47 PM »
Ok i have a totally stock 80 with original 20r motor.I was wanting to put the 22r carb on with lce adapter. My reason for wanting to use stock toyota carb is 1 because i live in California and need the truck to do all the smog stuff and 2 also i live in the mountians and constantly drive anywhere from sea level to 8500 feet elevation usually few times a week. And i belive when using the emissions stuff for cali truck there is something vacuum wise that changes with elevations? Asv or something? And not so sure im into webers. Also does linkages work? Any info helpfull do a bit of readin a at a few sites just looking for some current info. Thanks

LC sells an adapter to put a 22r carb on 20r intake manifold.

Yes thats what i am buying also with the stock 22r carb. Just have an 80 with all the vacum stuff. Can i just slap the adapter and 22r carb on there and have the 20r thortle linkage work? Ur what? Also can i just look in the manual to hook all the vacumm line up. So smog legal and all that.

Im curious of your results, feed back please. I too can use some power in my 76  20r. Wonder how it would affect smog?

Fursure hopefully ill be doing this little swap. Soon. Ya have pretty good results with my 20r carb after rebuilting it and dropin the float level. But have old orginal 20r wanting to get the carb swap all set then when i get money saved up agin do 22r bottom end and have my 20r head reafeshed with 22r valves or something. Still aways away from that tho haha. But truck will barly pass smog now as it is. Probly due to cat problems for the most part i think. Srry if not the most ledgiable typing all this from my droid

you'll need the hose routing diagram for a 81 22R
make it look as stock as possible and I'll bet he never looks twice

the 22R carb is going to blow your mind :driving:    make sure you run a header or a 22R exhaust with the twin pipes down to the cat.
