blocks
« on: Nov 29, 2010, 08:12:54 PM »
i know this is a horrible way to lift your rig but i can get whatever size aluminum blocks i want for free and i don't have the money to get some springs to add to my 63's. so will is be okay to run a 1 or 1.5 inch aluminum block. like will i not get a bunch of axle wrap. i'm running 35's with 5.29s if that would help with the axle wrap question.

not in the front but the rear is fine.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE
AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

it's not to clear it, it's cause i was tired of nailing my bumpstops when i bomb down logging roads so i lifted the front and now i have to lift the rear a bit more to get it to not sit leaning back

Prerunner look is sick though. But no alot of people run 1-2" blocks with 63s. Their heavy 1/2 ton leafs and you should not get much axle wrap if your worried about it just build a anti wrap bar or don't hot rod your 22r around lol

how long are your shackles? I cut down the overload spring and use it as a block, cheap and works great!

Aluminum blocks are the worst, due to the axle wrap that occurs when doing blocks in the first place. They will always come loose and eventually round off causing even more issues possibly damage. If you want to do a block use steel.

I second the aluminum vs. steel for the blocks! I also recommend welding plates on the axle to make a pocket so that the block won't squirt out.

I think they're like 8 in or something. The only reason i was thinking aluminum was cause i can get them for free. Steel i'd have to buy and i might as well go to the junkyard and get some f150 sprigs for add a leaf.

They will still round off on the ends causing a loose condition, constant tightening of the ubolts and the possibility of them just falling off when you least expect it.
