The 2 don't really go hand in hand.  Glen touched on it, but a shorty header is little more than a noisemaker on these engines.  Long tubes are what make a real difference, as does proper scavenging, which cheap headers don't have.  LC, thorley, downey, and nwor all make good headers for r series engines.

You can still find them used  ;)  I've bought one used off ebay and had one come on a parts rig.

i mean its prolly better than stock manifold but if your going to spend the money you might as well save up a few more bucks and get something like a LC or NWOF. i love my hedman and would reccomend it to anyone... i also know hooker makes them for a r series motor. I have not heard much on them though...

a little... nothing to :pokinit: you pants over but its a little better than it was.. i think it says like a gain of 4hp... or somthing close to that... but when your 22re only has 116 hp... 4 ponys is a world of differance haha if your trying to gain some ponnys i would recomend a CAM... when my motor was built i got a 268 Stage 2 RV cam and bored .20 over... thats were your going to get your real hp gain...

The head is where you're going to uncork your engine.  Yes, pacesetters are junk, but if you look at them they're pretty dang close to the headman header, hooker too iirc.

I'm running a nwor header now and honestly prefer the long tube 4 into 1 I had on before.  It was a $35 junkyard header of unknown brand, but it both sounded better and pulled harder longer.  Then again, my last engine flat got it compared to the current plant, despite having over 365,000 miles.

my buddy had a pacesetter in his talon and the welds were cracking and then a couple days later he burned a hole in the thing the size of a nickle! haha thats the reason i wont buy a pacesetter... i agree with you though nate i think a shorty header is night and day compared to a long 4 -1 but a shorty is better than stock...
