torsion bar help

are there any aftermarket torsion bars that will provide a decent ride? if so which ones (downey, sway-a-way, something else)? im putting a winch and bumper on my hunting truck and dont want my lift to go from 4 inches to 2. im new to this IFS stuff so i need all the help i can get  :beerchug:

I got mine from http://www.performance4trucks.com a few yrs ago.    but expect to replace the bolts and parts for the adjuster   mine snapped.  Had to go to Toyota for the parts.

Downey's are decent, even with a winch up front.

other than a  sas is there a way to get rid of the torsion bars all together. maybe a coil conversion?

sure can. may need to buy or build new upper a-arms to clear the coil inside & watch your cv shaft clearance. also re-enforce the upper & lower coilover mounts .

i had a set from rancho and they were pretty decent
88 4runner 92 cpi duals 37 radial rockers and 4.8 coming soon

iv always wonderd if it could be done as well...i wonder how similar Tacoma Front arms are...

There was a guy in the shop yesterday with a 94 pickup running King coilovers, it had custom a-arms and the coilovers ran to the top of his hood. Probably could come up with a shorter setup that doesn't involve cutting up the inner fender wells. He runs it a glamis and the 4x4 is operational. It would probably be cheaper to just SAS it and forget it.
