time the cam straight up, ie on the markdistributor timing is 5 degrees with t1 and e terminals crossed,
5 is stock. more advance is more power, less fuel economy, and possibly pinging. I loved running about 12*-15* but I couldn't run it all the time. 8* made more power than stock and was still happy with regular fuel.
I timed the cam to the mark, and set the timing at 5 deg. with the terminal jumped. Glen do you think I should advance the timing?? The guys above said around 8 deg will give me more power with this cam. What do you think? Should I leave it where it is or advance it??Thanks.))--SLIVER-->
I thought that advancing the timing effectively leaned out the fuel mixture and resulted in better fuel economy? My 4Runner has a mild cam and likes premium fuel even with the timing in the 5-8 degree range.
on my truck, i get less mileage when I advance it.
