buggy rebuild
« on: Nov 07, 2008, 12:49:22 PM »
pretty new here
i've been reading through builds for awhile on here and deceided since im all yota i should throw this up
a little history on it
i traded it for my 1st gen yota a little over a year ago and when i got it, it needed a little tlc
it started out as a 81 yota frame
current setup
22r/5speed/duals with 23 spline 4.7 rear case
all the tubing is 1.75x.120 DOM
axles are fj80 4.10 welded diffs
front suspension is rears up front
rear is dual triangulated 4link with 2.0 air shocks
started out like this

first thing i did was pull the backseats as they were sitting high for kids.
messed with the suspension to get it to sit a little better the poor rear suspension made it act weird.
last july i deceided i was tired of the station wagon

took the wheelbase from about 113" to 110"

put on a better master cylinder so i could have some good brakes

new lowers are 2" solid 7075 t6 aluminum from branik

uppers are 1.5x.250" dom
heims are 3/4x5/8 chromo uppers and 7/8x3/4 lowers 5/8" bolts throughout

how it sits now

stickered the hood for the extra hp

so far after 3 wheeling trips everything has been going good

for some reason every now and then on steep climbs it will smoke REALLY bad

blew a headgasket last weekend gettin it a little too much

so how knows what about building a yota head. it runs on propane

because you'd have to be about 5'5 to safely sit back there. they were designed for my friends kids.
and i wanted the new rear section to look more like a pick up bed

My 22re will smoke if the truck is pointed at the sky...all the oil from the pan goes into the #4 cylinder and it gets burned.  No biggie...Comin off of the waterfall in Helldorado I had to take a deep breath and close my eyes and just keep it matted until I felt myself crest over the top.
Go 1-Ton from the start

i think im just going to build the head for right now
but im not sure what i wana do

will a 22r intake work with a 20r head?
