no refund, nothing I can do!  In the warranty it states you are responsible for getting it back to oregon engines no matter if you buy it  and get it and it is junk like mine was right off the bat.  I was told by oregon engines if I did not pay the 350 bucks for shipping they would start to charge me a storage fee by the end of the week. I am going to pay him for the shipping because I do not want any more headaches but trust me I will spread the word for years to come about his good service.

Do you still have the engine, or is it back at OR engines?  If it is back at OR engines how did you ship it w/o paying for it?

Yeah I plan on getting ahold of them  but it states right in his warranty buyer responsible for shipping even if it was a poorly remanufactured engine, he has not  heard the end from me.

Has he fixed the engine, is it ready to be shipped back to you?

His warranty may say that the buyer is responsible for shipping, but since he paid for the shipping, he overwrite his own warranty, you aren't responsible for the costs.  He put the shipping cost caveat in there to prevent people from returning the engines under his lifetime warranty.  Furthermore since he paid for the return shipping, he can't charge you for storage fees.  is there anything on the paper work you received when you purchased the engine about storage fees, I bet there isn't, storage fees usually apply to in shop work orders, not return warranty work.  He is just trying to scare you into paying more money so he doesn't have to suffer any costs for his crappy work, or trying to establish a counter claim if you bring legal action.  He wont get storage fees on a counter claim in court, not for warranty work.

Don't give in until you know how far you can get w/o paying money, once it starts to cost you you will have to decide is it worth continuing.  Unfortunately it sounds like you aren't going to get anywhere w/o legal action, just don't spend more than you can recover under OR law.  You might look into one of the small claims court TV shows like Judge Judy, getting your case booked there should be enough to scare him into settling.  the last thing a nationwide business is going to want to do is get nationwide bad press.

Also when you post up where he sells things and on boards like this make sure to say "I think he is....because of.......", and not that "He is........because of........"   One is your opinion of fact, and the other is statement of fact, you can be sued for slander for a false statement of fact, but not your opinion.

one funny thing I  came across but I'm not sure you guys caught it also........GUARANTEED FOR LIFE.No offense but even a brand new car isn't guaranteed for life on the motor.....I think that guy surely scammed you good...............$2100 is close to a LC long block...I'd rather go that way, just my 2cent......Burn him good!

Well its the same thing the Chrysler did with their lifetime powertrain.  Its not transferrable so they are banking on the fact that people will sell the car and get fed up with all the other junk the breaks.

A well built well taken care of 22re should hold up for 200k+ miles so he is banking on that and you will never claim on the warranty.

It would definately be better for someone local that didn't have to pay shipping.  But the hassle of tearing it down and reinstalling makes it not worth it.  That is why threads like this are important.  Buying a motor can be tough and you have to know the place you are using has a great reputation.

I have purchased multiple kits from EPN over the years and never had any problems.  This is not the pirate board and never will be.  I do not believe that vendor problems should be aired out on forums because there is always 2 sides to every story.  I hope they take care of the problem and I'm  sure they will make it right.

Thanks  CJ  :turtle:
