Best way to do the Chevy leaf swap
« on: Sep 27, 2007, 12:00:57 PM »
I'm running add a leafs all around right now, i'm wondering how to get the best flex/lift/ride setup out of these 63 inch chevy springs...i'm gonna be doing the swap soon.

I've heard to run the four leaf pack (from 4x4 chevys) with the overload leaf, but that ride quality might suffer from such a setup.

I don't want to run blocks, and i want a nice ride, but no doubt i want a big truck too :)

anyone who's done this, post up some pics or something

thanks

I'll post pics when I get home of my Taco, but the leafs are stiffer than I thought they'd be... They're the 3 leaf w/ overload, and don't flex as much as my OEM Tacoma leafs (with add a leaf) did.  I have 14" Bilstein 5125's center mounted in the rear, and I'm not able to get them to fully compress or extend like I could almost do with the Taco leafs.  They do ride a little smoother, but are still stiffer, if that makes sense.  They gave me about 3-4" of lift over the OEM leafs.  The main thing I see with them is that the OL leaf smiles, where the OL leaf in the Taco pack frowned; I was planning on swapping OL leafs to see if I could get more uptravel out of them, but never got around to it because I'm getting ready to sell the truck.  They're way more durable than the OEM leafs, and I got the pair for $45, so I'm not complaining...  They'll definetly give you a big truck.

I'm running a 3 leaf pack with the overload & I have had my 63's flexed to a negitive arch & I haven't had a problem  :crossed: This is the only pic I could find but if you goto the bottom of my post to my rig gallery, page 2 there is a pic of the spring & it is flat  :twocents:
