I've used Procomps on every truck I have built. IMO very good shocks for the price.

Most of those shocks are the same damn thing just with different logos so be carefull your not paying 10 more bucks for a "cooler" logo.

This is very true when talking about the cheap lift shocks like skyjacker, pro comp etc, but not exactly correct for all companies.

The best shocks I've run to date are the rancho rs9000s I traded to a crank feind for a set of monroes.  He knew what kinda deal he was gettin but was tired of the lift shocks bottoming out before his springs hit the stops.  I keep em on the 2nd softest setting till I hafta haul something, then just crank em up.  I'll probably lose em when I lift the truck, but I'm gonna try moving the mounts and doing some careful planning to keep them.

Been running Rancho 9000s on the Burb for years, love the adjustable dampening. Bushings dont last though, at least on a 6200 lb Chevy boonie bashing in Pismo! :driving:

i have a 12" suspension lift, i was looking at the bilstein 5150's they were 2 for 159.00 is that a good deal.? another thing. my front springs are stiff, i have dual shocks on them right now they're rancho 5000 they suck.  thats in my opinion. i think it mite just be my springs but do i have to go dual shocks or do i just need one shock? another question, if i have a 12" suspension lift how long of a shock do i need? same in the rear they put like 3 shocks in the back on each side, dont know why??? will one on each side work just fine? or are the stiff springs going to affect the ride aswell? thanks for the info.

the amount of lift doesnt really have a lot to do with the length of the shock. the amount of FLEX does. You can have 12 inches of lift and only have 6 inches of of total travel (extreme example) or you could have 6 inches of lift and have 30 inches of travel. measure your flex and then you will know. typically you want a length so that approximately 60% of the shock is in the tube and 40% is out.

if my springs are stiff will that play a major roll in how smooth it rides on bumpy roads?  i have rs5000, there is one shock on each corner that has an adjustable little knob. that you can either turn to the right or left, its black. i turned them all the way to the right??? is that the adjustment point for them? if so which way do i turn them right or left? i turned them right so i'll drive it around and try to see the difference.

I think the 9000s are the ones with the adjustment knobs.. If you look closely you will see an arrow stamped onto the shock body, the higher the number the stiffer the setting.
