they will be too soft. i did rears up front on my rig(crapyota build up) i used a set of 85 4wd rears and added 1 leaf from an 85 2wd they felt alright the first time out( i went kind easy on it). went out yesterday and hamered it and flexed it over every thing in sight. the springs came up into negative arch so much they actualy were catching my pitman arm and stopping my steering( i also need bump stops.) i also added my winch on and when thay are sitting on level ground the right side is kinda going negative not flat any more and no arch. i am gonna add another leaf or two. it is not hard to do. and i got both leaf packs for free so its no worry to play around with them.

there is alot of ways to do this. seems like no 2 are set up the same. i used the main leaf from 2nd pack the leaf with the military wrap. now im gonna just mix in the next ones down if they are long you can trim them down with a chop saw. good luck

so to keep up with the 4inch lift i have on my truck right now i think im going to use stock rears and then add 3 more leafs to my packs.... one about 3/4 the length... one 1/2 the length  and then another thats baout a 3rd of the length  so the three i add will be like this            _________________
                                                                               _____________
_________              would it be best if i put this under the main leafs in between the overload leaf

Take the overload out, it will be a rock anchor.  Put the 3 leaves you are adding under the 3 main leaves.  You might need to add more leaves later on depending how much weight you have and how much they settle.

:imwithstupid: hes got it right.  My formula that I use it leave the top three which are the only three normal ones there anyways and then get another stock rear pack and put those same three cut to the right length underneath the other ones and then take the very bottom one from the pack that is about a foot long and perfectly flat under them all

i didnt use the flat looking 1. my pack goes
mainleaf
second leaf with military wrap
second leaf military wrap(from second set of leafs)
main leaf (cut down from second set of leafs) just added
third leaf
i added the second main leaf last night becuase springs were to soft with the new weight of the winch i just put on. it flexed like mad without the winch(had no problems),but now with the winch on it would go negative and catch the pitman arm.
gonna try it this sunday

for what it's worth.......I have two sets of rears up front....I have either 6 or 7 leafs and I just cut them so they step down in size untill the last one...about 3 or 3.5" shorter per leaf.....they work great....I'm not sure on the lift because I SAS'd at the same time but I fit 35s with no rubbing

:qtip:I bought 4" lift off the shelf, 2 months later that "Poor Comp" lift
was fed to the saw for the rears to be 6 leafpacks, actually rightside is 7
works well Im useing the stock front hangers 5" shackles have almost 45deg
angle they drop well and dont feel to mushy when drivin in town. Anyway my
? is has anyone come done U bolt flip useing stock pushpull steering cant
really afford Hy steer and mounting a new steering box may be hard because
of all the 3/8 plate I welded to patch  the frame where that weak design of the 82s
frame made for a bad day. :crossed:
