SAS with rears up front question ?

I'm about to do a SAS on my buddy's '89 and I'm wanting to use '83 rear springs on the front.

My question is will I have to move the steering box forward or will the stock location clear. We're using Marlin's high steer and I'm building a drop hanger and longer shackles.

If there's anything else I need to look out for let me know, but now my only concern is the tie rod and drag link hitting each other. Thanks!

yea,,you have to move it forward because the drag link wii hit like you said..I think its close but am pretty sure they will hit..the rears move the axle forward 2 inches and thats where the problem comes from.

That's not what I was wanting to hear, but I was afraid I would have to move steering box.

What if I made some plates to relocate the axle 1" to the rear? If the rear springs move the axle 2" forward and if I make some plates to move it  1" backwards then that should be the same as aftermarket springs that move the axle 1" forward (such as All-Pro's) . Am I thinking correctly or does anyone see a problem with this?

Just move the box.  Its not that much work and its well worth the little effort it takes.

It also depends on where you put the front crossmember.  You could move it back so that the tires are in the same spot they are stock.  That means you don't have to move the steering box.  But then the shackle swill hit the frame.  Easier to just move the steering box.
