Mini Truck Disc Brake Hub
« on: Mar 21, 2004, 10:46:21 PM »
I need to replace the Brake Hub on my FJ-40.  It has Mini truck hubs and rotors on it and I'm not sure what year stuff Warden's put on it.  I know there are a couple of different ones, so would like to know what to look for to tell what year hub I need to get.  (The hub in question is the one that has the wheel bearings in it, not the locking hub).  Thanks....Bob Brown  PS if Mike or Marlin reads this, do you have hubs for sale so I can get one from you?  Thanks...Bob

I have 78 cruiser rotors, hubs and spindles on a 84 axle.  yes they are the same except mini from 79-81? had 2 bolts holding the rotor on the hub whereas cruiser and other minis had 6 I think.  Maybe the other way around :) Any way yes most are interchangable

76-81 Cruisers, and 79-81 mini trucks use short wheel studs and the rotor is secured to the hub with six 10x1.25 mm bolts.
This style uses 6 hole rotors.

82-89 Cruisers, and 82-85 mini trucks use long wheel studs that secures the rotor to the hub. There are also 2 additional 10x1.25mm bolts that also secures the rotor to the hub. This style uses 8 hole rotors.

After the rim and tire is removed and the hub assm is still on the spindle, if you can see the head of the wheel stud, then you have the early style hub.
If you cannot see the head of the wheel stud [because it goes all the way thur the hub and rotor], then you have the later style.

Bob, We have both styles in stock.

Didn't later IFS trucks go back to the rotor being bolted onto the hub with six bolts, the "early style" as you posted? If so, when did that happen?

When the ifs was introduced in 9/85, they went back to the rotor being held on by 6 bolts. The ifs rotor has a smaller o.d., and a greater offset. It will still bolt to the live axle hub, but requires a spacer to line up with the caliper.
