stock motor mounts vs aftermarket mounts
« on: Oct 30, 2009, 11:32:34 AM »
I have herd both good and bad about the motor mounts on the toyota's with a dual tranfercase I have herd that the  stock mounts will not hold up to the torq that is put out from a dual setup and I have also herd that it will hold up to the amount of stress that is put on it.  now I want to know your thoughts about them why the do/don't work ??? :turtle: :turtle: :turtle:

I have been running dual cases with stock MM and T-case mounts for 12 years without a problem. I do have the MM's chained but I just did that last year. I run two mounts on he BudBuilt x-member. Do I get it, yep sometimes!!!!!!! :disturbed:

Put a rockstomper mount on the drivers side 3 years ago. There wasn't a significant increase in vibration in my opinion.  The truck was my DD at the time, and regularly saw 80 mile round trips for work and school.  My pass side mount broke at MCR, and I repaired it with a bolt through the mount.  I did take pics of the process, I'll put them up tommorow if I remember.  It was a quick easy fix

Alright, here's the pics.  They're not very good, but you get the gist of it.  I used a 1/2" grade 8 bolt, believe it was 5" long.

The mount was already torn, so I just cut the threaded stud off, drilled a hole all the way through, and fastened it with the bolt.

So far so good, laid the truck over a few times last weekend with no movement.  Didn't really notice any additional vibration, but I've got other problems that would cover that right now.

low range sells the bomb proof mounts. work great. vibrates alot more at first but gets better over time. also noticed better throttle response then with the stock mounts.

I was going to build some for my threeyarzee with some spring eye mounts but use rubber bushings instead of poly to allow a little more give.
