Trans swap
« on: Jan 20, 2003, 08:26:00 AM »
What major problems can I expect trying to put a 150 trans into a 82 toy? I can score the V6 trans at reasonable price. The 82 that I'm putting it into has an 86 R.E.T. engine.  Is the bell housing removable on this trans or not?  :help:I know the stock trans isn't going to hold up long.

You need a R151F bell housing(Turbo trany). The V6 bell Housing will not bolt up to the 22r block but the Turbo bell housing will and also bolt up to a R type Trany. To run the R150F you will need to buy a adapter to run your 1982 gear driven T-case. You will also need to convert your t-case input from 21 to 23 spline.
