Good Price to Pay for a Used Transmission?
« on: Dec 22, 2004, 03:24:50 PM »
hey guys, im just wondering what is too much when it comes to looking for a good used tranny.  i guess the one i have is trash.  i priced a rebuild kit from marlin at $181, but i think i should be able to find a good used one for less.  if not, can someone tell me how difficcult it is to rebuild my tranny.  its a G54.  are there any special tools ill need, or is it pretty straight forward using normal tools.

thanks,
Callen

Give Marlin the G series tranny for the core charge. Get yourself one of his W56HD rebuilds and be very happy with it. Last longer than the rebuilt G and probably any used trany you might buy except for a R151F. My  :twocents:

A good used tranny is from a junk yard can cost from $100 to $500. It just depends on what the guy thinks he can get for it. Search the net for used ones and call for pricing. You can also check Ebay.
