so I know you guys have probably heard this question hundreds of times but I bought a 3.4 the other day for $550 it's going into my 91 with a 5 speed and it came from a automatic 97 4runner and i didnt come with a wiring harness I need to know if I can use a automatic wiring harness with a manual ecu and make it work out.
I make more money that you, my wife is hotter than yours, my thingy is bigger than yours
i am planning this same swap with in the next 2 weeks i have a 3.4 out of a 95 t100 also auto and i just wired the neutral safety to think it was in park no problem other than you can start it in any gear and with out the clutch in
You should get a check engine light like that. Do you? Everyone that I have seen do that does.In California, a Check engine light is an automatic fail for emissions testing so that cannot be done if you want to be legit and legal. If you dont care about the light being on then thats probably the best way to go. It would just drive me nuts on a daily driver.
Take the bellhousing stiffeners off your 3.0 and bolt them onto the 3.4 block. There is supposed to be a flywheel cover sandwiched between the bellhousing and bellhousing stiffeners.I don't know if "bellhousing stiffeners" is the correct way to refer to them but I heard that once and it stuck in my head... They're just the little brackets held on by two 14mm's and bolt to the bellhousing with another two 14mm's. It makes sense if you look at it.
