spring combo
« on: May 04, 2009, 11:08:24 AM »
im building an 80 pickup w/ a sbc 350 and full width axles. i need my front springs to carry the wieght of the 350 but still flex like a motha. using skys full width kit and thinking it will make the front even more stiff b/c the springs are farther apart then stock. TG makes HD 5" springs but i dont know if those will flex enough. the truck will only be driven off road so street drivability does not matter. should i use the HD springs up front or just more lift.

I would use rears up front. You can make your springs hold what you like because you are making the pack and they are cheap. In the future it you add weight like a winch, bumper, exo, ect... you can adjust your front springs by adding a leaf. If you want more flex you might want to look at the 51" toyota rears, these springs come off of 90-95 trucks. With 1tons and the weight of a 350 I don't think you will have problems with flex.  :gap:

The best thing to do since you have a custom/heavier setup you should go to a custom spring company have them weigh it and build you a set. They will take in all the variables and what you plan on doing with it. I'd also already have it set as to where you want your perches and hangers.
