Topic: tranny swap

so i think my tranny is bad, its the stock 5 speed out of my 95 runner. so the question is can i use the tranny from an 02 tacoma that came off a 3.4, my roommate did the 3.4 swap and now weve got the tranny sittin out there with less than 50,000 miles on it. I saw the two are different lengths but it looks like if i can swap out the bell housing it might be the same. can this be done? and if so are there any major modifications i need to do? any input would be appreciated

I'm here searching for the same info. I have a 1989 3.0 5-speed truck and I found a 5-speed trans with Marlin Duals from a 1995-6 T100 3.4 for sale for a reasonable price but I need to know if it will work before I buy it. I called Marlin Crawler today to ask and the guy I talked too said I 'might' have an issue with the throwout bearing and clutch fork but he said he wasn't really sure. 

And will the flywheel from that 3.4 T100 bolt onto my 3.0 so I can use a better clutch?

should be possible if you can get a bell housing to match up.  read - might be easy, might require some major fabbing.

But a manual gearbox is pretty much a bunch of gears and levers, so in theory, it should work/be possible.
