my old 85 standard cab toy was on its last leg, and it was time to let it go. i had built the whole thing myself and it was hard to let go because im one of those guys that follows the "built not bought" rule. but this offer i couldnt pass up. and plus for as much motor problems as i had i hardly ever got to wheel the damn thing.

so heres the DL..

the 85 popped a head gasket, replaced that and went to try and start it and i had no compression. this is the 3rd motor (that i know of) that has been in this truck. so i dont know if this thing is cursed or i just have very bad luck with 22r's. anyways..my neighbor just got a 86 4runner that was pretty built. he said he'd trade me straight across for my truck and i got to keep my brand new 36" tsl's. (truck was on 35" bald mtr's)the obnly catch was it had been flopped on its side so the passenger side was a little banged up, the windshield was toast, and the tags were expired. i had nothing to lose so i jumped right on it.

specs on the 4runner..

-built turbo 22re with SDS EM-4 stand alone engine management system and t3/t4 hybrid garrett turbo.
-nasty supra front mount.
-mystery springs in front
-5 "skycrappers out back
-rear disk conversion
-arb in front
-bobbed 10? inches
-gross front bumper
-2 missing windows
-did have 30 spline longs but he got them as part of the deal..
-mismatching gears in diffs:5.29 front, 4.10 rear. previous owner blew up the 5.29's that were in it before.
-all pro hysteer
-mx-6 front shocks with tube shock towers
-ranchos out back

plans so far are:

-install rear yukon 5.29's
-Turbo XS RFL blow off valve
-spearco front mount; a small one so i can run i grill
-22rte injectors; it leans out right now with stock 22re injectors.the turbo injectors flow more cfm's obviously. then get the whole shebang re-tuned by a shop
-dual cases
-redo ALL suspension (tacoma rears in front maybe, with 63's in rear with flex joints like yota4life has.
-rear aussie locker.

then i'll see where it goes from there.

well ive gotten some work done to the 4runner since the last update.

-installed the 5.29's and aussie locker in the front diff and moved the arb to the rear along with the compressor
-new 2 1/2" exhaust with thrush 2 chamber muffler
-plexiglass window to replace the broken one on the removeable top
-got my RFL blowoff valve
-took off the supra front mount cause it had a hole in the back of it and i couldnt boost over 5psi in 1st gear. so i got me a new griiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiill
-didnt like the old fenders with the ramrod cut anymore so my buddy gave me his 2wd fenders

and then i took it on a maiden voyage to browns camp..

Looks good!  I've lived here in Tillamook all my life and have yet to go to Brown's camp!  I grew up on the Kilchis River, I still live on the Kilchis.  That is more of my romping grounds!  As soon as I get my truck running, I'll have to hook up on Brown's!

for sure. where is kilchis? and how far is it from browns camp? what kind of wheelin is out there?

Kilchis is just north of the cheese factory.  Not much as for wheeling/trail climbing, but I like to get up into the firebreak roads!  Which can tie you into other areas, such as Miami Foley, Cook Creek area and up into the Sunset hwy area!  As most of the firebreaks are pretty rough, as they aren't a maintained road!  There are a couple roads that can be pretty challenging in a stock rig!  One I call the Incline Road, in my old nissan, it was a first gear, 4 lo show all the way to the top!  It would be nice to have a dual setup so your not running so high on RPM's driving it!

annd.. some stupid leaking coming from the intake. its right in between the thermostat and throttle body, but i cant find it. it DUMPS water out. going to pull the intake plenum off today and see what the deal is.
