I run some older enkie aluminum wheels, and they get very good lugnut contact because they have a shallow conical steel insert.  If an aluminum wheel shattered like that, it was only because somebody bought a cheap, shitty wheel to begin with.  Aluminum will absorb hits more than steel before it deflects, and can be bent back to shape if done right.

well looks like I am gonna run the "DUKES of HAZZARD" wheels (wife likes them the best) 

I finished the frame repairs while on Christmas break, and started working on the bed.    got a new camera   so give me a few and I will post some pics.

here are some pictures of the frame repair     I cut out the rust, made some plates. then reinforced the bottom of the frame with 2 1/2 x 2, 1/4 inch thick angle iron      should hold up

I like steel, bends back more than once.

I like the look offront alum. wheels but everyone is right. The steel wheels are better on the trail.

its not gonna be a hard core trail rig    but will be used to haul my 4 wheeler and some muddy back roads    ect.
