smog questions??
« on: Aug 02, 2008, 05:22:37 PM »
well i fail in both hc and co... n0 is fine.... at 15 mph hc measures 177 and max is 121 and for the c0 it measures 2.89 but max is .76..................................... i replaced plugs, wires, cap, oil, both my o2 sensers... both denso's from napa.. so there not chepos... that did not help one bit at all... so now i threw on a new magnaflow cat.... i checked my charcole canister and it didnt have airflow threw any ports on it.... my stock pcv valve seemed like it was sticking so i got a new one of those.... and my tps may not be adjusted correctly.... my questions is what exactly causes C0? it seems really high.. alot higher than the hc?? could a clogged canister make a big dent on my smog? it had no airflow at all?? also way back then when i was building up my truck some guy told me to adjust the timing and loosen the tps and tap it till the rpms change then tighten it up.... well i dont think that was correct at all... totally screwd up my idle bla bla bla... jumpt up and down at certain rpms... so i adjusted it back to what i thought was correct but im not sure... if my tps is not properly adjusted will it make me fail smog also??

TPS will give ya trouble with smog if it,s not right.

HC= unburned fuel

CO= product of combustion
A good day working, that's just sick :reg:

the high co is caused by excess fuel the hc is caused by unburnt fuel fix the co and the hc will most likely be corrected co that high will make hc rise. check your air flow meter also it could be an injector leaking fuel when the pintle is closed.
