No.

Remove brake lines
Disconnect e-brake
remove 4 bolts (each axle)
Pull axles out at least 6"
Remove driveshaft
Unbolt 3rd
Remove 3rd

YES...you have to pull the splines out of the third...but like mini said, you dont need to pull them all the way out

when you only pull the axle out part way, do you need to support them? i was wondering if the axle weight might hard on the seals. any tricks?? or just do it and don't worry.

I usually replace those seals anyways if I pull the shafts (just to be on the safe side) The seals are cheap...replacing brakes isnt when the seals leak..

I would probably support them with something if you arent replacing

what Minisimp  does  is  leave the wheels on,  this is how i do it  so  you raise the truck enough  to  just barley clear the tires,  remove the brakelines  and nuts   and lift  the tire a little  and pull it out, this adds  some safety  to  removing the third member

the tire  should  keep the axle off the seal,  but  if your replacing it,  just leave the axles in  till you get the 3rd out  then  pull the axles  and replace the seal

It also keeps the damn thing from falling on you when your jackstand fails.....

I would not want to be the one laying under that truck with that jackstand leaning like that :sheerterror:
