Hello to my fellow Toyota owners
« on: Apr 03, 2008, 10:50:38 PM »
What's up guys. I am new to the forum but definitely not new to Toyotas. I have a 2007 FJ TRD and I just bought a 1983 SR5 Pickup. I just did Clawhammer with the All Pro gang in the FJ and it was a blast. I came home and bought the 1983 pickup so I could get into some gnarlier rockcrawling. It came with dual lockers, 5.29 gears and the 22r with a 5 speed manual trans. I am thinking about getting rid of the carb and also changing over to an auto trans. I have been searching the threads for info on these topics and have found all kinds of helpful stuff. I am glad to be a part of a great forum and look forward to many years of Toyota wheelin. See ya on the trail....

Welcome to Marlin From :turtle3: Idaho, uggghhhh, auto's aren't all they are cracked up to be. Iv'e wheeled with both and love my 5spd! Get low enough t case gears and make sure your safety cancel works and your'e good with the 5spd.(Just my opinion)
By the time I get the money for an SAS I'll be 65 at this rate!

Hello again,
Thanks for the friendly welcomes. I am under the impression that my idea of switching to an auto maybe isn't in my best interest. I think I'll try some lower gears first and see how it goes. Thanx for the feedback guys.

:welcome: to Marlin, you can't beat the out of the box capabilities of an auto but I wouldn't swap a 5 speed out for it. It will cost less to put lower gears or a doubler in.
