My significant other left Friday morning for a week long visit to see her daughter in Georgia. Here's what's happened since.

10am Friday- Jeanne leaves until next Sunday
11am- I pick up 22re engine block/crankshaft from machine shop.
3pm- I pick up 1985 4Runner from it's hiding place in Prince George- (blown engine, disassembled to short block)
4pm go to see several clients, back home around 8:30 or so.
9pm- assembling pistons/rings/rods in living room with multiple Beam & Peppers
Work 9-5 Saturday-
7pm to Midnight- Assemble short block IN KITCHEN while dining on Scallops and Filet Minjon- consuming numerous beverages along the way.

Sunday AM- Buddies Stan and Chad drop buy to lend a hand. Ribeyes and beers for breakfast.
Continue to build long block IN KITCHEN. Had several difficulties, including several stripped threads, necessitating trips to purchase HELI coil kits (which I have never used before- lifesaver!).

Sunday PM break for lunch (Stan has been making Chili since he arrived) Numerous shots/beverages enjoyed while watching formula one on the tube.

Tow 4Runner into garage, pull short block, remove transferrable items to install on new motor.

I figure I have a week to get the new longblock installed and running. This was in impulse purchase, no doubt a result of my impending middle life crisis. (she doesn't understand)

I don't have a digital camera, Both Stan and Chad were supposed to bring one, so sorry, no pics.

I do, however, expect to have it finished, running trails by the end of the month!

Don't think you will have to tell.  If she is anything like my wife she will figure something is up the minute she walks in the door, with all them truck parts laying around her kitchen. She is going to throw a  :tantrum:

 the best way to get away with off the wall unknown to her purchases is let these things get lots of dust on them and let them sit around so she can notice and say that old thing i've had that for a while. if that doesn't work you know :outtahere:

I sence a scratched kitched counter..

Maybe not, I completely tore down my old dirtbike in the kitchen, cleaned/painted and reassembled it there, then decided it was going to be stored in the kitchen.  Not a scratch in the floor, but I did mistankingly drill a hole in it while drilling through a piece of wood.  Little bit of wood glue and nobody knew :_oops:

Good going man   Hopefully she's down for the build when she gets home.

Kitchen is now spotless- for the most part.  (Just dishes and shot glasses to clean up now) It was nice working with new parts, as everything was pretty clean to start with.  Used trash bags to protect floor and tables.  Planning on remoldeling this summer anyway!

Finally got a chance to work on the 4runner again this evening.
Working by myself I got the engine in- which took about 2hrs.  It was a pain in the butt getting the pilot bearing lined up correctly with the input shaft (I've only swapped engines with automatics before).

Now to get all the electrical crap hooked up!

Engine is in the 4runner, but haven't had a chance to wire it up.

but my better half got home last Sunday-  and didn't see it in the attached garage until today?  Got a strange call on the cell phone, "so, when did the red 4runner get here?"  She was actually pretty cool with it (actually not much of a response- I was surprised)
Now we're getting ready to go out to dinner-  having a couple of drinks beforehand.  I pour a couple shots of tequilla-  then show her pics of the finished engine in the kitchen off my camera phone (feeling kinda brave)  She just shook her head, called me a knucklehead and downed a shot (gotta love her)

Gotta fix the Jeep late tonight (broken axle shaft) for wheeling Crozet on Sunday-
Hopefully have the runner operational next week.

Promise to have pics soon!
