Aux. guage install on 22R ???'s
« on: Aug 22, 2006, 11:36:32 AM »
I'm installing a set of guages for my '82, voltmeter, oil pressure,& water temp. My only question really is, where is a good location for the oil tube portion? It calls for an oil port. Does anyone have pics of one existing on a 22R? Will I need to do any drilling and tapping?

I've owned one other 22R truck but never cared much for the motor as I do this one.

As always, thanks in advance.

on the pass side around the oilfilter you will see a small plug with a10mm head, remove it and install your fitting

If you want to use the stock idiot light (and see just how LOW a pressure it turns off at)
get a metric adapter bushing (usualyy sold where the guages are) and use a brass 1/8NPT "T" fitting.
you can "jam" the OEM idiot light guage into the female end of the T with some teflon tape.

I did this and its held for 10+ years and 300+K miles...
yeah yeah - still IFS...

Thanks Ewong. I've already installed my oil pressure gauge.

I used the 10mm bolt location under the filter. I had to get an adapter from Napa because the fittings with the Autogage gauges were to big, I wanna say it was a 3/8" fitting. So to the tune of $14 I got a "kit" that came with two other adapters that I probably won't ever use :snare:

I ran the copper for awhile but was always afeard that it would snap. I ran nylon inside the cab.
When I yanked the suff later -t he nylon part that was inside the cab CRUMBLED in my hands (UV?)

Im running Earls "brake lines" now. No leaks :)
