school me on 4cyl tubro trannys
« on: Apr 26, 2006, 07:18:11 PM »
OK, I have found some info on them, but nothing for sure.  ITs the R150F right?  It has a 23 spline out put like the v6 trannys.  And it MIGHT bolt right to the 22re.  I have heard some people say that it does bolt right up, but others swear up and down that it will never work.  I have a g52 tranny behind my mocho 22re (LC stage II cam) and I think it may be failing.

TIA
PZ

Edit the 4 banger turbo is a R151, not R150F

the 4cyl turbo tranny is the R151  and it IS the strongest toy tranny  out there,  and will bolt to any 22R or RE or RTE  engine

actually it will bolt to a 20R  cause they are all the same,   if you want to later bolt it to a v6  you can swap the R151 bellhousing for a R150f  and :driving:

You can identify a turbo version by a black plug on the bottom near the front of the tranny.
Right?

Will I need a new clutch?  Or will my ceramic off of my G52 work?

Sweet tranny, my friend has one in his 4runner. It has a lower first gear and they are very strong.
1986 Toyota 4Runner 22re 5spd transmission and dual transfer cases (4.7’s in the rear). E-lockers front and rear.

2005 GMC Sierra diesel, compound turbo setup to pull.

God gave all people talents but the only one who can find them is you.
