if going efi  from a 1st gen  you might wanna look for a 3RZ,  much more HP than a 22re   and from what i here , actually less wiring

i know if this motor i have now has to come out it aint gonna be a carbed engine that goes back in

But Also a lot more money!

Im putting in EFI in my 81 in about 2 weeks. I have all the junk to do it (its all from an 84 Celica GTS). I will maybe have spent about $100 total in doing the swap too.

The wieing on the earlier EFI trucks is fairly simple, it just takes time.  You could easily have it done in a weekend.

i have a complete 83 celica with the 22re i was going to put it in but i am thinking about staying with the carb for now. due to the fact that i know nothing about wireing
