It's not my original idea. I found an old post here trying to find info on my missing interlock pin.

Some guy took one shift rail from a forward shift case and one rail from a top shift case and used both stock shifters. Instead of the shifters being side by side, one is in the forward shifter location slightly in front of the stock top shift location. One shifter for each rail.  

You have to remove the interlock pin just as you would for a twinstick and weld a piece of metal on the shift forks to close the open side off so the tip of your shifter doesn't fall out of position.

I think it's a great idea and I'm going to try it soon. You can see in my pics it should fit just fine.
