Re: Ford 5.0 conversion
« on: Mar 10, 2009, 10:39:12 PM »
I have an old school Ford 289 in my truck now (carburated). I would love to put in a fuel injected 5.0 but I dont know if I can. When I put my motor in I was 18 and stupid. I proceeded to "trim" all of the wires from the existing toy loom at the boot on the passenger side of the firewall (93 pickup). So now everything I need for the 289 works fine but all the extra wire and plugs are gone and tucked back into the boot at the firewall. Did I screw myself? I thought I remembered that the 5.0 conversion loom piggybacked into the existing toy loom. I hope not. Any Ideas?

ok i dont know why everyone wants to plug in the ford harness in to the toyota harness, i did mine with all for stuff and i hacked out ALL the EFI toyota wire and computer, i used the ford 302 harness from the doner car, painless makes a harness for the 302 EFI you just plug in the haress to a battery and the FORD computer,,,,thats it, the other basic functions of the toyta as in lights are a different harness and wont change, i have a carborated 302 with a C4 and a toyota Tcase, it all fit with no mods to the fire wall, the only problem was it was tight between the rad and water pump, i did some cutting and fit a 22x19 alum rad and a 17in fan on behind the grill. as for the wireing i looked up a diagram of the ford charging system and used the for alt and regulator VERY simle, i used the factory wire for the toyota starter to the ford silanoid, i ran on the stand just hooking up to a battery.   it will work it will fit it dont care about the toyota wireing
