Just because technology has progressed in the eye's of some doesn't mean it has progressed in actual usage by some.  Electric fans have their place but having one fail driving down the road isn't a big deal.  Losing one 30 miles from civilization is another deal all together.

The fans that died on me were both stock fans and flexalite universal fans.  Lost the magnets on a couple of them and the fan blade broke on a black magic fan.  I've had factory electric fans die as well.  Yes, having a junkyard electric fan fail on you should be expected considering its age and usage but it still sucks.

The only advantage to an electric fan is less drag on the engine so it revs quicker.  You are still using amperage so the alternator has to drag the engine down a bit when the fan is running.

I'm just waiting for my factory 94 alternator to die so I have an excuse to put a 140 amp chevy alternator on there.  I'd never waste money on autozone crap.  My wife used to manage one and she loves there parts but I won't go in the store, I feel dirty when I walk through the doors... :hahaha:
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??
