No, it is used.

As for ceramic disks (and even moreso for plucked disks), they are designed to have less slip.

We have a ceramic disk in our F-Toy and I have wheeled it many times and it slips fine enough for me.

It is definately something one needs to adjust to, especially when they were not expecting its level of performance.
