Help Clutch Cancel Switch!!
« on: Nov 10, 2009, 06:07:45 PM »
Hello everyone, Ok so I picked up a safety cancel switch off a 1986 22r from pick and pull the other day. Carbed, IFS short bed non SR5 4WD. My truck does not have this option, I like the bling!!! :cheese:  My truck has that spot blocked off with a black piece. My truck is a 85' SR5 long bed EFI. I took the dash apart and there isn't a place to plug it in. My brother has a 86' SR5 Runner and he has the switch. Was this a option starting in 86'? I'm not really concerned about the switch if it is to much of a hassle. I just think it would be cool. I like the fact that I can start the truck without pushing the clutch in. Is there anyone with a 85' that that as this switch? Any information would be great!!!!

BTW, I have used it.............

nice to have when you're working on the truck and need to start to engine.

(then there's the times I was running out of fuel and used the starter to keep the truck moving....)

if your brother has it check on his truck it goes from that switch in the dash back to the top of the clutch pedal but i cant remember how it was wired and this public comp sucks to look crap up with but if i remeber correctly it shouldnt be that hard and it didnt look that complicated

My '92 had it and I removed it and jumped the wires so I could start the truck anytime without the clutch in...

My '85 4Runner does not have this switch and you do not even have to push in the clutch to start the truck. It will try to start even in gear with the clutch out. :driving:

and no. this is not normal. you should have to push the clutch in completely no matter what gear its in to start it.
