I'd say go 5.29's and rebuild your engine with a good cam, header, intake. Just from my header I put on mine I noticed a nice improvement on a very worn out 22re (250,000) Personally I wouldn't change my gears to anything higher than a 5.29 with the stock 4 cyl. power. now if I had a v8 or something I'd consider those higher gears just my 2cents
Gotrocks,  the higher the number  the lower the gear ratio+more power

ie, 5.71's will give you more power than 5.29's although they may be actually weaker because the pinion is so small

thats what i keep reading.....when these tires wear out...i might just step down to 35's or 36's with 4.56's(?)

who knows
stepping down to 35's or 37'swill help get rid of all that useless weight
actually if i was wanting to run 37's  i think i would go with a 17 inch aluminum wheel

going from 5.71's to 4.56's  is going to put you with less power

dont worry about the stroker,  just get yourself a good mid range cam ,  run a compression check  you need rings if under 150 psi /cylinder

i wouldnt drop to 4.56's
