I like to use relays on my lights. Maybe the smaller wattage rock lights don't need them but my front 100W lights like the relay!
You got it, a relay is a must for durability and safety. Battery, fuse, relay. Switch to relay, lights to relay.
Mount relays where accessible and try and use all the same types for interchangeability.
